September 3rd 2006 - The never ending journey

Mummy had said that this was going to be a long day - she wasn't kidding.

Firstly in the morning we went to the church to see a christening during a 'prayer and praise' service. This was much more fun than last week - it was shorter, more music and singing, and lots of other children and families. So we have decided that Mummy is going to discuss some possible dates for me to get christened and we are definitely selecting this type of service.

Then we went home so I could sleep for an hour and Mummy and Daddy could load the car up for our long journey. Pretty much everything I own has had to be transported including my bath, all my clothes (well a VIP needs her choice of wardrobe!), some of my toys and of course my travel cot. By the time Mummy and Daddy had finished loading the car there was hardly room for me!

Eventually they squeezed me in sat in my car seat and off we went. Every now and then I babbled my version of 'Are we nearly there yet?' but apparently we had only just got to the M25. We seemed to crawl for ages and ages on the M1 and after 1.5 hours still had not got to Luton. By this time I was totally fed up as there was nothing to look at, I was bored and wanted my milk (I made this pretty clear!), so Daddy stopped the car at the first service station. Mummy gave me my milk and Daddy had his 'Olympic Breakfast' and then I was put back in my car seat and off we went again. We were driving much quicker now, but it was still boring and uncomfortable, so I had a snooze. 'Are we nearly there yet?' turned into 'Are we ever going to get there?' and at this point I had to have a grizzle.

Finally we arrived at a house near Nana and Grandad's where a big BBQ was taking place with lots of their friends. There was a big brass band playing, but it was very loud and wasn't my cup of tea. I got introduced to lots of people who gave me hugs and pulled funny faces at me - but all I wanted was to settle down and have a proper sleep. Eventually Daddy wrestled me away and we went to Nana and Grandad's house. Daddy put my cot together and Mummy made me some milk. But I was so tired I just cried lots and lots. Eventually they settled me down but it was all so confusing as I didn't recognise anything! I had a sleep, and then Mummy woke me for my bed time milk and my bath. At least theat way I knew a bit more about what was going on. Then Mummy put me to sleep in my travel cot and I slept all through the night.
