July 25th 2006 - My eight week check
Mummy took me to the doctors today to have my 8 week check and my first immunisations. I think she was as scared about this as me!
First we saw the doctor who checked my heart and lungs, my tummy, my eyes, back, gripping reflex. He asked Mummy if I had started smiling yet, so Mummy tickled my tummy and I didn't stop smiling. The doctor said I was a real 'smiler'. The doctor was very nice to me - his couch was like being on a big changing mat. Mummy asked whetehr he was going to check my height and weight but he just said that I looked absolutely fine so didn't bother! He remarked I was quite long, and asked whether Daddy was tall and slim. Mummy just laughed at this and said no he is short and fat! I was given a completely clear bill of health and don't have to go back until 8 months.
Then we went for my immunisations. Mummy cuddled me and they put a needle into each of my thighs. It really hurt so I screamed the place down. Mummy laughed saying she wished she had her camera as my face was so funny .... I'm not surprised as it hurt lots ... silly Mummy. With these injections, I might be a bit grumpy for the next 48 hours, and maybe have a fever ... ideal in this heat. So Mummy has bought me some medicine just incase I get hot and bothered. I have tried to be really good all day, but it still hurts now.
In the afternoon Mummy went to see another nursery, so I had a bit of a sleep. Also we went to the health centre get my height and weight checked as the doctor didn't do it this morning. I am now 11lb and 2oz (5.06kg), and am 58cm long. So I have grown 4cm since I was born. I am still perfectly following the 50th percentile for my weight (average), and the 75th percentile (taller than average) for my height. Mummy thinks I have secretly been reading her books on bringing up babies as I seem to follow everything exactly and hit all my milestones by the right time!
